Monday: Plant of the Week
Tuesday-Friday: Landscape Design Project
Friday: Plant of the Week Quiz 3


Landscape Project
1st- Create a rough draft sketch on notebook paper
2nd- Research plants- common and scientific name, color and size at maturity (Use Ball Redbook and Introduction to Horticulture books as well as the internet)
3rd- Final landscape plan!
Requirements:
-        The landscape must take up the entire paper.

-        Plans need to include:
o   A building- can only take up 1/3 of the paper
o   5 different Evergreen plants
o   5 different Deciduous plants
o   3 different Hardscapes- walk way, driveway, deck, pool, pond, fire pit, etc.
o   Bedding area with plants-
§  2 different Ground Cover plants
§  2 different Flowers (annual or perennial)
o   Scale
o   Key- for shapes of plants
o   List of plants- common and scientific name, color and size at maturity

-        Use a pencil on the final plan

-        Sketch must be appropriately colored- LAST STEP!

-        Plans much be neat and orderly- take PRIDE in your work!


-        Be CREATIVE and have FUN!

5th Period: Advanced Agriculture
Monday-Friday:

Clean Tech Competition (http://www.cleantechcompetition.org/)
In teams of one-three members students will be participating in the 2015 Clean Tech Competition.

"Your challenge is to develop a clean energy solution to help combat this worldwide problem. Solutions may take on aspects of growing, harvesting, distributing food, or any other facet of food availability that you choose to improve. Your team will identify a specific problem, explain and analyze in detail, and design a solution that can be used to help the affected populations."
