Imagine you are given a plot of land and money to buy livestock to start your own production.  What species of livestock will you raise? What breed? Where in the U.S. is your production located? What type of production are you interested in? These are all important questions that must be answered while creating your farm/ranch.  For this project you will choose your own species and breed to start an imaginary farm or ranch. 
You will present your farm or ranch through a PowerPoint. Before you put your PowerPoint together you need the following information:

Requirements for Paper
Your paper should include the following (this is how the paper will be judged in the contest) :
5 pages double spaced 12 point font
Title Page
Abstract: The abstract is a summary of your paper (not included in the 5 page requirement).  This should be located after your title page.  It should contain a brief summary of background info, problem description and your results/solution.  It should be 200-250 words.
Background Information: Describe the background information of your problem including the location, geographical reasoning, duration of issues, and direct and indirect causes.  This section should be well researched with detailed history and analysis of the problem.
Problem Assessment: Describe in detail the direct and indirect effects on the physical earth, ecosystems, and human populations. Include research and analysis of the broader impact on social, political, and economic matters.  Discuss what is currently being done to manage the problem.
Scientific Approach: Include a hypothesis that is logical and detailed.  Show planning and clearly explain necessary resources and methods for experimentation and data collection.  Include types of data to be collected. 
Technological Elements: Incorporate technology into your solution.  The use of technology should enhance your design and assist in solving the problem. 
Engineering Design: Explain and illustrate the engineering of your solution design.  Use diagrams, graphs, drawings, schematics, etc to explain and illustrate your design.  The design should be practical and applicable. 
Testing and Redesign: Include a detailed, practical and logical plan for testing design and redesigning.  Analyze the limitations of your current design and consider improvements.
Creative Design: Your design should be creative, original and innovative.  Your design should be based on and supported by research.  Or, your paper should include sufficient recognition of the original inventor and makes significant improvements to an existing design.
Results and Conclusion: The results and conclusion should relate directly to your problem.  The conclusion and results should be presented in a clear, thorough, and objective manner. 

References: This page does not count towards your 5 page requirement.  You should have at least 3 primary sources, with others as well.  The sources should be used to enhance your paper and support evidence.  Use APA format to cite sources.
